V. Without concurrently contemplating everything that has been said before, the Marian life is not so perfect, but rather coarser and less perfect, for to belong to her, to love her, and to cling to her with the most tender love as to a mere creature and not as to one in God and with God would necessarily contain and result in some natural and sensory love, which would greatly hinder the soul and distance it from God, and would draw it to multiplicity, for as the object is, so is the love for it; if the object is natural or spiritual, then according to that, the love for it is either natural or spiritual.
VI. It seems that a certain ray dawns upon my soul, giving me to understand why the lovable Mother is more connected with God, more penetrated and enveloped in divine essence, and as a result has a richer share in divine qualities and perfections than any or the most distinguished saints and angelic spirits. For when she was raised by God to that dignity to conceive the eternal Word of the Father in her virgin womb, she deified that Word when it rested within her for nine months, thereby her nature, body, and soul, were clothed, penetrated, embraced, merged into itself, transformed into itself, and almost changed into itself by the closest bond of love of the eternal Word towards her and vice versa, her love.
VII. My beloved allows me to see and understand with the enlightened eyes of faith the majesty of Mary, her incomprehensible elevation, power, and authority with which God has endowed her for all eternity. How God has established her as a mediator and representative between his majesty and mankind, and also as a reconciler of divine justice. I also see clearly with inner vision that God has designated her as the distributor of all his divine graces, kindnesses, and mercies to people, so that nothing at all proceeds graciously, mercifully, or lovingly from God or is poured upon people except through the hands of this most dignified Mother. Everything must pass through her generous hands, just as waters flow down a channel. God wanted to adorn her with so many graces because he deemed her worthy among all women to be the Mother of his Only Begotten Son, the Mother of God. And therefore, he made her so similar to himself, clothed her with his divine attributes and perfections, so closely joined her to his divine essence that she appears to me as one with God. It was fitting that such should be the Mother of God.
VIII. I received yet another ray, by which I understand better in meaning and practice than I wrote previously, this life in Mary, for Mary, and with Mary. What I perceive and experience about this leads me automatically to the words: “The soul is more where it loves than where it lives.” This confirms everything I have written so far about this life in Mary. In this sense, one must mainly understand that fusion, enjoyment, and union of the soul in Mary and with Mary; and also that transformation or change in Mary, as I mentioned above. For it is the inherent nature of love to join the lover with the beloved, and thus to merge, unite, and let the loving one blend with the loved thing, so that they seem to be but one.
And further, as the eternal Father sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts calling Abba Father, that is, causing the most tender sonly love to the heavenly Father, so too the same Spirit of God’s Son in certain souls calls Ave Mater, that is, instills a sonly feeling of love towards this sweetest and most lovable Mother Mary. For the one and the same spirit of Christ stirs in the soul this love and life in Mary, just as it stirs love and life in God, as it was in our beloved Jesus. Here are hidden mysteries that I pass over in holy silence, and everyone will experience them according to the measure of their love.
