On the condition that we give ourselves up.

He knows that we are miserable, but he does not take it into account and does not relent in anything. He himself becomes bread to us by first burning our shortcomings, sins, and faults in his love. Then, when he sees that we are clean, he swoops in like a vulture wanting to consume everything. He wants to devour our life and transform it into his own. Our life, full of shortcomings, into his, full of grace and glory, which is prepared for us on the condition that we renounce ourselves.
