“We have come to know the love that God has for us, and we have believed in it.” This is a great act of faith, a way to reciprocate our love for God with love. This is the mystery hidden in the heart of the Father, which Saint Paul speaks of, that we will ultimately grasp, and which will stir our souls! When the soul is able to believe in this immense love that surpasses it, we can say what is said about Moses: “He was unwavering in his faith, as if he saw the Invisible.” The soul no longer fixates on affections and feelings; it matters little to her whether she feels God or not; it matters little to her whether she is gifted with joy or suffering: she believes in His love. The more she is tested, the more her faith grows; we can say that she overcomes all obstacles to rest in the embrace of Infinite Love, which can only perform acts of love. To this soul, fully awake in faith, the voice of the Master may say in a secret intimacy the words He once said to Mary Magdalene: “Go in peace, your faith has saved you.”
