"The Teachings" of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi (5/6)

St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi - Mother of CharityThose who do not love one another do not know God at all

St. Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi in her work, which remains with us, speaks of nothing but love from beginning to end. All her ecstasies represent rapture in love. She cannot imagine life other than as love. Life and love are identical for her. The life of a consecrated virgin, a nun, is love, just as the life of the Triune God is love. Her only sorrow in the world is that "love is not loved." Her sisters called her "Mater caritatis" (Mother of Love).

Sayings of St. Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi

Embrace the whole world with the bond of love; love all creatures with a pure love, which means without the slightest disordered attachment and without the mingling of (unhealthy) affection. Love them because God loves them and wants us to love them too.

Rejoice in the love that God has for creatures, and in the perfection that He grants them.

Consider it a great grace that you can serve souls, which are the sanctuaries of the Holy Spirit, and regard yourself as unworthy of such grace.

Always engage with God, let all your actions be in God, let all our faculties be directed to God. Then, in interacting with others, the diversity of personalities will not trouble you, because you will be so occupied with God that you will not notice it.

I dare to assert that those who do not love their neighbor and do not love one another do not know God at all.

When love for the neighbor requires it, it is necessary to abandon even prayer and contemplation.
