Lord, before you I am like a hungry person seeing bread, like a person tormented by thirst at a spring. You are the sun, the earth, the mountain, the flower, the light, the power, the life. Every created thing has something of you and reminds me how urgently I need you. Everything beautiful tells me about you, who are beauty itself. I would like to taste you like a child savors milk, I would like to consume you wholly, I would like to enter into you, to identify with you, to merge with you.
Now I know that this hunger and thirst will accompany me throughout my life. The more I approach you out of your love, the more I will long to eat and drink you.
