You are the God of hearts.

Our God, we ask You, open our hearts, open our eyes, open our ears to what You are preparing for us and what we cannot understand.
God, open our hearts, open our eyes, open our ears to the infinite breadth, length, height, and depth of Your mercies. For You are truly not a God of wild judgment, You are truly not a God of terrible anger, but You are a God of the heart.
You are a God of the heart to the extent that You would want to become the heart that is open to drink in all the streams of sorrow, all the streams of suffering, all the streams of abandonment. You are the open heart that yearns for our sorrow, for our pain, for our misery, to take them in and transform them, to change them by the heat into Your great and purifying love.
God of the Heart, God of the Most Sacred Heart, God of the Pierced Heart, God of the Bleeding Heart: Accept our poor, weak, failing, and groaning hearts! Embrace us completely in Your love, embrace us completely in Your home, in the holy home of Your love!
Grant that our old prayer, our old songs may be realized as truly as possible: Jesus, in You I live, Jesus, in You I die, Jesus, with You I am alive and dead.
