It’s enough if I don’t run away!

Little brother, if you are seized by doubt about whether God will continue to preserve the grace of His intimate friendship with you in the future, grasp the cuff of your habit or the hem of your scapular – something tangible! – and tell yourself: “I am wearing a monk's habit, which means that God wishes to make me a contemplative monk, His friend, a man of prayer. The plan He has for me, which He has already begun to accomplish, He will bring to completion. All I need to do is not flee.”
