I have never perceived the beauty of this life so much... the harsh beauty.

Dear brother!
At the threshold of the sacred pre-Easter time, I once again send you heartfelt brotherly greetings. The war tightens its fateful circle around us ever more closely, so we must continually bend under the protective omnipotent hands of the Father and expect all good only from Him. … I have never perceived so much the beauty of this life, the harsh beauty that consists in the fact that through outer darkness, one glimpses into the true world of the Spirit full of light, into the true world of God, and can thus calmly continue walking toward the Lord's mountain… Let us pray for each other, that all these trials may enrich us with true spiritual goods.
