The awareness grows within me that trust in God is also His gift, not my internal act! Until now, it seemed to me that trust is “mine,” that it was my own act of surrender. Now, when I desire it so much, I do not have it, and suddenly I understand that it was and is a gift from God! Therefore, it is necessary to wait in humility for the gift of trust and endure despite everything! Easy faith, prayer, trust, all of these are unearned gifts.
