God's love pours out onto all people.

A hot day. An empty stomach. Beautiful cumulus clouds drift over the forests and everything is quiet.
The Mass is the most remarkable thing that has ever entered my life. When I stand at the altar, I feel that I am truly the person God intended me to be. The greatest gift anyone can receive is to partake in that endless act through which God's love pours out upon all people.

(Thomas Merton, diary entry from the vigil of Pentecost, June 4, 1949)
