Can you imagine what it must have been like in the soul of the Virgin Mary when she had the Incarnate Word, God's Gift within her after the Incarnation (cf. Jn 4:10). In what silence, recollection, and adoration must she have hidden in the depths of her soul to embrace God, whom she bore as a Mother. My Margarete, He is within us. Ah! Let us remain close to Him, in such silence and with such love as the Virgin Mary; that is how we will spend Advent, what do you say?
(St. Elisabeth of the Trinity, from a letter to her sister Margarete, November 22, 1903)
