He almost wanted to tease me...

A short excerpt from the letters of St. Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi (1566–1607) testifies to the intimacy of her relationship with Jesus... and invites us to intimacy with Jesus as well.

Then Jesus, my Love, told me many other things; he almost wanted to tease me, as he did at the beginning. I laughed a lot at that and said, “Oh Love, you really don’t speak!” However, what you told me, I cannot now communicate.” Then I said to him, “If I, Love, thought about the past times that I lived so poorly, I could not be so transformed in you, Love. Because you know that love and fear cannot coexist, I leave everything in your Love.” And he told me to do it that way.
