Never despair for ourselves or for others.

“He saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax booth.”
There is no more despised, contemptible state, from which you call the soul, not only to save it, but to make it your dearest and to raise it to great holiness. From the dust of the road, you lift the lost and trampled coins and restore their original beauty. Let us never despair of ourselves or of others, or of anyone who seems to be drowning in vices, no matter how extinguished all good feelings may seem in them; let us never cease to hope for salvation or for the possibility of gaining admirable holiness. God is powerful enough for that. It is our duty to hope.

(Charles de Foucauld /1858–1916/, En vue de Dieu seul)

Blessed Charles de Foucauld will be canonized by Pope Francis in Rome on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
