To have the courage to embrace the gift of life with its joys and sufferings.

Jesus takes up the cross… If we are to be his disciples, we must accept our own cross and follow him. This may sound somewhat masochistic – as if we have to stand for suffering. The true meaning, however, is that we must have the courage to accept the life given to us with its joys and suffering, with all its blessings and limitations. There is no point in wishing to be someone else.
