This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! (…) But can we rejoice? Is joy not something like cynicism, like mockery in a world that is full of suffering? Are we redeemed as well? Is the world redeemed? (…)
One of the psalms of Israel, which the church understands as a psalm speaking of the suffering of Jesus Christ and has long prayed at the beginning of each holy mass, goes: “God, grant me justice!” It is the cry of the whole world that is in suffering. Grant me justice, God! He said “Yes.” Christ is risen from the dead!
