If only we were completely accustomed to the holy practice of the presence of God; how greatly all physical ailments would be alleviated. God often allows us to suffer. This is meant to purify our inner being and lead us to remain with Him. I cannot understand how a person who is with God and whose only desire is God can feel pain. I have experienced enough of this to eliminate any doubt about it.
