If taken correctly, a year is always good, regardless of what it brought. There are no bad years, and there cannot be. Only we ourselves cause a year to be good or bad. One thing is true, good, and blissful: that we see the will of our Lord in everything that happens to us and love it. All the great and small events of our daily life are messengers of the Savior, to whom we must say our "yes", always just yes. Everything comes from God, leading us to Him.
