"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..." The Father is God as the one who utters Himself, the Son is God as the one who is uttered. The Word is God's speech to God. Silent speech. It contains the infinite silence of God, the Silence that is God. "God has spoken only one word, and that was His Son; He continually speaks it in eternal silence, and it is in this silence that the soul can listen to Him."
