Why do not all my loved ones recognize that without Mary I would be lost? A thousand times I have accepted her with Saint John as all my wealth, and as often I have given her myself, but if I have not yet done it as well as You wish, dear Jesus, I now do it as You ask me to do. If You see in my soul or on my body anything that does not belong to this venerable Lady, please tear it from me and throw it far away from me, for if it is not Mary's, it is not worthy of You, Jesus.
(Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort /1673–1716/, prayer to Lord Jesus)
