You have descended, Lord, into the day that is just beginning.

You have descended, Lord, into the day that is just beginning. Alas, how endless is the diversity of the degrees of Your Presence during the same events that are unfolding and through which we will all pass! Under absolutely the same circumstances that are about to weigh upon me and my brothers, you may be present little, much, ever more, or not at all.
That today no poison may harm me, that no death may destroy me, that no wine may intoxicate me, that I may discover and feel You in every creature – grant, Lord, that I may believe!
