I am absolutely certain that I am incapable of the perfect act of love. I cannot follow Jesus to Calvary and die with him on the cross. No amount of millennia will change that. But what I cannot do, the rich man from the gospel, is possible for God. He will give me grace, change me, enable me to accomplish the impossible, and roll away the stone that separates me from his kingdom. It is enough to wait patiently, to pray humbly and trustfully, and to always hope. God has never remained indifferent to the challenges of love. He will also bow down to my love.
