Has the mercy of the beggar, begging for love, ever been rejected?

Yes, this is the poverty of the spirit: to have nothing in our hands that we could give away, to see only the failures and misery of our wretched lives. Then we can lift our eyes to the infinite mercy, and because that mercy is infinite, it needs nothing more than for us to beg for it. But has mercy ever, even just once, rejected the beggar asking for love?
