Almighty God,
you are the giver of peace.
We stand before you and ask:
Help the world afflicted by violence, and grant people peace.
Strengthen in the hearts of all who bear responsibility for this world the courage to uphold true justice, freedom, and the dignity of all people.
Fortify the resolve of all who dedicate their strength to fighting evil.
Heal the hearts of men and women who, blinded by hatred and selfishness, do not hesitate to use violence to achieve their goals. Awaken in us sensitivity for the suffering and a willingness to help them.
Teach us to forgive those who have wronged us, and to seek forgiveness from those we have harmed ourselves.
We ask you, God, hear us through our Lord Jesus Christ,
for he has opened the way to your kingdom of peace.
